“Ohana Returns: Lilo & Stitch Reignites Hearts and Box Office with $341M Global Debut”
Disney’s live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch has made a remarkable impact at the global box office, amassing $341.7 million worldwide during its opening weekend. This impressive performance not only set a new Memorial Day weekend record but also positioned the film as the second-largest global debut of 2025, trailing only behind A Minecraft Movie.

Domestically, the film garnered $183 million, surpassing the previous Memorial Day weekend record held by Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. International markets contributed $158.7 million, with notable earnings from Mexico ($23.7 million), the UK ($12.9 million), and Brazil ($11.1 million).
Directed by Chris Sanders, who also voices the character Stitch, the film stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo, with Sydney Agudong portraying her sister Nani. The movie’s success is attributed to its nostalgic appeal, engaging storytelling, and a soundtrack that blends classic Elvis Presley songs with new renditions, including a cover of “Burning Love” produced by Bruno Mars.
With a production budget of approximately $100 million, Lilo & Stitch has already proven to be a profitable venture for Disney. The film’s strong performance also signals a positive trend for Disney’s live-action remakes, following less successful releases like Snow White.
As Lilo & Stitch continues to captivate audiences worldwide, its success underscores the enduring appeal of heartfelt storytelling and beloved characters.
